If you are thinking about purchasing a home, the first step you should take is to
attend a homebuyer education course!

This course should cover the entire homebuying process and include such
topics as:

  • Assessing Readiness
  • Budgeting and Credit
  • Shopping for a Home
  • Finding a Real Estate Agent
  • Applying for a Mortgage
  • The Closing Process

ACRHA offers such a course every six to eight weeks on a Saturday from 9am
to 5pm.  The class covers all of the topics listed above and more.  There is no
charge for attending our class, however there is a $10 fee for the class manual.
Breakfast and Lunch are provided for no additional charge.  We also try to have
a lender, a realtor, and an attorney speak at each class.  See our
Calendar of
Events page for information on the next class.

ACRHA has often taken the homebuyer education class "on the road" and is
happy to do so in the future if enough interest can be demonstrated.  Please
feel free to contact us at any time about arranging a class in a particular location.

Completion of an approved homebuyer education course is a prerequisite for
ACRHA's Acquisition and Rehabilitation Program.  It may also be a requirement
for obtaining mortgage financing.  ACRHA will also accept a certificate of
completion of this course from other agencies on a case-by-case basis.

To register for ACRHA's next class, please contact
